Details: We will explore how organizations can enhance their commitment to accessibility, ensuring inclusivity for all individuals. First, this episode will cover some basic history and principles of the disability justice movement. We will then discuss the importance of accessible design principles in digital and physical spaces. The presentation will highlight best practices and noteworthy examples of successful accessibility initiatives. Additionally, we will cover strategies for implementing and maintaining accessibility standards within an organization.
Presenter: Jacob Metz, City of Rochester
Jacob Metz grew up in San Antonio, Texas, and has lived in a variety of places throughout the United States. Jacob holds a Bachelor of Science in political science and American culture studies from Washington University in St. Louis. After college, Jacob worked for the Deputy Mayor of Racial Equity and for Senator Claire McCaskill’s office. Jacob then worked for Congressional Quarterly in Washington, D.C., summarizing bills and amendments as they were considered on the House and Senate floor. Jacob recently earned a Master’s in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School and works on accessibility and language access at the City of Rochester.
